T-Mobile officially announces Dwayne Wade Sidekick 3

In a few hours, T-Mobile will officially announce the latest addition to the Sidekick line up. We wanted you to be the first to have the details.

Tipping off NBA All-Star 2007, T-Mobile USA, Inc. announces the newest member of its all-star lineup, the T-Mobile® Sidekick® designed by Miami Heat guard and 2006 NBA Finals MVP, Dwyane Wade. Packed with the same great technology as the T-Mobile Sidekick 3, the new D-Wade Edition is the latest in a series of T-Mobile’s iconic devices that provide consumers with new ways to communicate with style.

Wade, an avid user of the T-Mobile Sidekick since 2004, was integrally involved in the design process, so the finished product reflects the key attributes of his MVP style. The T-Mobile Sidekick 3, D-Wade Edition is presented in the crisp white color of Miami’s South Beach and paired with tan and copper accents that emulate the luxurious look and feel inspired by high-end automobiles. Wade’s signature “3” stands out as the only detail in gold, symbolizing the elegance of winning an NBA championship trophy, which Wade hopes will be the first of many. Last but not least, the device debuts another Sidekick first, a realistic basketball-textured backing for added grip and comfort.

“My T-Mobile Sidekick is a part of me. I don’t go anywhere without it because it keeps me in touch with the most important people in my life,” said Wade. “I really wanted to design a Sidekick that meant something special to me – one that reflects my own personal style and inspiration. I’m excited that it will soon be in the hands of people who want a great device that looks smooth.”

To celebrate the launch of the new D-Wade Edition, T-Mobile will host a series of activities during NBA All-Star 2007 in Las Vegas, with fans being greeted by T-Mobile at each end of the Vegas strip. One of the largest outdoor “wallscapes” in the U.S. — 250 feet high by 225 feet wide — will cover 56,250 square feet of the Mandalay Bay with an image of Wade with his signature device. At the other end of the strip the 1,149-foot Stratosphere, which is twice as tall as any building in Las Vegas, will glow in T-Mobile’s signature magenta color illuminated by three 12,000-watt projectors.

During the NBA All-Star Jam Session, fans will be treated to an interactive walk through “T-Mobile’s Mind of D-Wade.” The two-story exhibit creates a figurative walk through Wade’s world to experience his life and dreams as a basketball player, the inspiration for his Sidekick, and the history of the T-Mobile Sidekick. Wade will also make a special appearance during the Jam Session, which will be held adjacent to the “Mind of D-Wade” exhibit, to host a basketball coaching clinic for fans.

T-Mobile will also hold an exclusive invitation-only event at which the Hollywood and the sports elite can get a first look at the new T-Mobile Sidekick 3, D-Wade Edition. Through the inspiration of Wade’s design, T-Mobile will re-create Miami’s South Beach in Las Vegas — bringing the ocean to the desert. Guests will leave behind the neon lights of Las Vegas, and enter the white sand and palm trees of South Beach, enjoying tropical gardens, shallow pools and cascading waterfalls, as well as a special live performance celebrating the game of basketball.

“We are proud to partner with one of the most exciting and dynamic players in the NBA today,” said Greg Andrews, director, Marketing for T-Mobile USA. “Dwyane’s personal style and communication skills on and off the court exemplify what the T-Mobile Sidekick is all about: connecting on your terms.”

The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 provides a variety of communications options, including phone capabilities, built-in support for three major instant messaging clients, personal e-mail and Web browsing* — to help you communicate on your own terms with those who matter most. In addition to using the device’s voice-calling capabilities, users can stay connected at all times with instantaneous access to e-mail, instant messenger (AIM®, Yahoo! ® Messenger and MSN Messenger), and text messaging on the full QWERTY keyboard (separate charges may apply).
Web-browsing capabilities, enhanced with EDGE technology, ensure faster downloading speeds for accessing favorite social networking Web sites and photo-sharing communities.* Additional features that have made this device a hit with tastemakers and trendsetters alike include a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, Bluetooth technology, a trackball for easier navigation, and its slimmest size ever.

The T-Mobile Sidekick 3, D-Wade Edition, will be available at select T-Mobile retail locations, select dealers, and online at www.t-mobile.com beginning Feb. 21 and continuing while quantities last. For more information on the T-Mobile Sidekick, please visit www.sidekick.com.
