T-Mobile and Cingular are GSM, not CDMA (and last I checked they were US carriers). And lets not forget that Nextel is/was iDen, which is why the Nextel/Sprint merger has been such a cluster f*** from a device standpoint.

But the phone will work on T-Mobile (or Cingular). But T-Mobile's network doesn't support the 3g bands that the phone uses so data would be limited to EDGE speeds (if your area has EDGE that is).
