Can a RAZR be used w Bluetooth on a laptop to
access Alltel Mobile Web? I have a red Razr from Alltel, with unlimited Text Mesaging and Mobile Web. (this part's tricky, it took three tries with Alltel to get the right combination of services.) The web is reasonably fast over EvDO network, and I would like to be able to use the phone as a Modem for my laptop via Bluetooth. Does anybody know the correct combination of hardware, software and the steps to make it happen? Is there a 'dialup' number, or does it just send the same as the OpenWave browser?

If Alltel lets you do it, you just pair the Razr with your PC and it should set up a dialup connection. The phone number for the connection is #777. Your username and password may take some finding...dunno how Alltel works on this point...but on my v323i in the security section under Data it has the username (you'll need the MSL to find this...try six 0's otherwise I dunno) and password (all asterisks but if it's ten digits it's likely your mobile number).
I'm not on Alltel, and I don't own the Razr v3m (what you have) but that's my best guess... |

Mobile Web and using you phone as a modem to get on the internet are 2 different things. You would need to buy an additional service for this use. You would want to buy the USB cable as the Bluetooth will slow down your connection (the network is faster than what the Bluetooth can transmit to the laptop), causing a bottleneck.

MSL is Master Subsidy Lock
Its a 6 digit code that unlocks certain functions that can fix issues/connection problems. |
