I'm wondering.... why did the go through all the hassle of making AT&T users get new phones wiht the Cing logo (after they spent so muc money changing the logo & putting it on all the new phones) if they're just going to swap back over to AT&T?

So cingular was owned by sbc and bellsouth. cingular buys att wireless...the key word is wireless...right. then sbc buys att home...a different company than att wireless...k. then they change the name from sbc to att...then they buy bellsouth and change that name to att then why not change the cingular name to att right....maybe we should name it mama bell sound good...i am trying to have fun with this but there is a funny video by the colbert report that actually explains it really well...i have it on my myspace page.

yeah i do think they should have left the cingular name alone...it is gonna help verizon pass them up in customer base...but no one asked me what they should do...it just causes too much confusion. but now i have like 25 cingular shirts and 10 att shirts and two name tags...

By the end of summer those 25 shirts will be rags to wash your car with....I am split on whether or not changing the name was a good idea. In the US at&t conjures up memories of horrible service etc we all remember that. On a global scale, its one of the most powerful names in business. Though I wonder what the true significance of that is, Cingular isn't truly a global name. However, this doesn't put them under one management, streamlining decisions which I think was a HUGE inhibiting factor when they had joint parents. Just my .02
