AT&T begins conversion process of Cingular Wireless stores
AT&T begins conversion process of Cingular Wireless stores
Memphis Business Journal - 1:03 PM CDT Monday, March 12, 2007 AT&T Inc. has completed remodeling the first of 2,000 company-owned Cingular stores to the new AT&T brand. San Antonio, Texas-based AT&T (NYSE: T) has renovated a 5,000-square-foot store in Houston as the prototype of the company's new AT&T Experience Store. The store won't just sell wireless products. Now that AT&T and BellSouth Corp. merged on Dec. 29, 2006, the new AT&T Experience Stores will sell AT&T's entire portfolio of wireless, broadband, video, home networking and wireline voice products. "The AT&T Experience Store in Houston is what the new AT&T is all about," said Stan Sigman, president and CEO of wireless at AT&T. "All of the communications and entertainment products consumers want are in one place, and under one roof." This is the first time AT&T has sold its entire communications and entertainment products through retail stores. AT&T will open several additional Experience Stores throughout its 22-state local service territory. In the Memphis area, Cingular Wireless has 10 stores. AT&T's divisions in Memphis employ about 1,500 people. |
