My Cingular / at&t business rep said they shipped to all the stores yesterday, I saw one at my local store. Today they are up on the web site.

My friend just got a new Black Pearl from Cing. It broke, so they sent her a new one (not refurbished) that arrived yesterday. Could she take it and swap ot for this one?

I like the looks of the red BB Pearl now that I see it on Cingular's web site and in your post above josh. Priced at $199.99 after the rebate is a nice deal too.

As a long time Cingular customer here is an idea that I'm sure will work. Have her call into customer service / tech support. Explain that the phone has static that is intermitent. It occurs most of the time but not all and she would like it replaced. BUT do not ask for a Red one just yet. Let them get the return process started as it takes awhile and let them ask for the info they need, then about 15 minutes into the conversation they will read back the order for confirmation and at that time say, no you want a Red one as you understand they have the latest firmware update. Perfect. The rep will buy that explanation and send her a Red one. I've done this in the past (even switching models) when I have not been happy with what I have. This is a benefit of Cingular / at&t as they are actually quite accomodating to the customer when you approach them nicely and patiently. Good Luck Cheers |

Went to my local Cingular / at&t store a few days ago, and picked up my new Red Pearl.
This color combination is really nice. A very nice red without being too flashy. This is my fourth BB with SureType and the particular version on this phone is really awesome. It is a bit more accurate that the earlier versions, and being that I am already experienced with SureType, I can enter words much faster with this latest version. Cheers... |

However for some reason I decided to try it yesterday and I was really impressed. Especially when compared to my other phones where WAP is the only choice. The BlackBerry html browser is so good, and fast that I use that all the time. I'm really glad that I tried WAP yesterday as: 1) I was able to easily answer you question today, plus it's really fast. 2) I will now use it for the sites that are WAP only and some that are both Mobile and WAP. 3) So one ends up with the best of both protocols. Finally, just in case you are not aware, BlackBerrys offer adjustable font sizes and types. So one can setup the fonts to the exact size and style of your preference. It's a really cool feature. Also the display on the Pearl large and truly awesome. Plus it's also adjustable. You can set it at 10%, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100%. Or you can set it to auto mode. Then it adjusts the backlight according to the ambient light level in the room or outside. The best display of any cell phone I've had. It's so bright that I have mine turned down to 60% and it's still very easy to read. With it set like that, I get two full 12 hour days on a battery charge and still have 25% left. Also that's with really heavy usage, like around 60 emails, loads of text messages as well as phone calls. Because they have the browser optimized for speed, using EDGE it's quite fast and it uses far less power than 3G, so that is another factor that contributes to amazing battery life. Cheers... |

I have used all sorts of mobile phones over the last several years. Then, tired of carrying a laptop, PDA & phone, I first got a Treo, then a Moto-Q, after which I got a Blackjack. Each of these was decent but not excellent. And worst of all none of them were truly stable. At the worst times, they would hang or freeze.
Finally the last stop on the smartphone train for me was the BlackBerry. I had avoided them earlier as I thought they were ugly and the models prior to 2004 did not have good phones. Then I saw the 7130c when it was released in June 2006, being smaller and the shape of a bar phone, I was really attracted to it, and bought one. It has a great phone, is 100% stable. In the 8 months I have been using it, I have not had a single crash, hang, freeze or any other issue. It's fast, fun to use, and all my communications come into just one inbox. All SMS MMS Email, Phone Mail, so I know what time, and in what order everything came in. This is such a compelling device that I find myself using it far more that I ever thought. Plus now with it providing such a great web experience, it nearly replaces my laptop. It's so easy to look up things on the web and then copy them to the BB, or just copy the link. Then when I sync it with Outlook on my Laptop, there is no duplication of effort. I have 3,200 contacts and the PDA sync used to take 15-20 minutes. Now with the BB that same job takes less than 10 seconds! I cannot say enough good things about a BlackBerry, especially the new Pearl model. I just know you would love one of these. Cheers... |
