I think you had some other wise words on cell phone addiction, 'There Is No 12 Step Program For This'.
But you did come up with a pretty good post at one of the Yahoo groups referring to 12 Steps. The one that especially cracked me up was number 12, having our phones all lined up on the bedside table. Who told you about my phones all lined up like that, lol. |

To anyone who bought the Phone and Card deal at Target, did they activate the phone in the store via the bar codes on the box, or are they unactivated, I ask because I already have this phone bought from T-Moble's website a few weeks ago, when it came with the 'Free' $25 card, so I want to keep using the current phone until the time is up on it, in about 5 months and a week or so <90 days initial, plus $25 cards 90 days>. I want to get this deal so I will have a years worth of use, and roll it over when that ones time is nearly over. If they activate the phone in the store and I don't use it until my first one is done, then the time will run out earlier than I want it to, I don't want to have both activated at once, I only need 1 active phone <although I do have an active Tracfone>

The word "activated" has 2 different meanings here. When they refer to the phone needing to be "activated" at purchase, they mean the barcode has to be scanned in order to tell the carrier's computer system that it was paid for properly (shoplifting prevention). That "activation" then gives a 90 day expiry period to Fastcards, but not to an unopened phone. The phone's SIM card gets "activated" when you call CS and set up an account and get assigned a phone number. If you want to buy the phone and hold on to it, you can do that as long as T-Mobile is still selling TMO2Go kits with SIM cards on GSM (even if your phone model gets phased out). I'm phrasing it this way to point out that some phone types (TDMA for example) do eventually get phased out. GSM looks like it's here for the long haul, so you should be fine. You can use the $100 card on either your current phone or your new phone. It is interchangeable. |

Thank you for the information, I remember you told me before about how Target has the cards pins in layers, one from them, and then the 'real' one they give you when you call. I was concerned about them activating the actual phone and the 90 days just ticking away while the phone sits there in it's package all lonely.
All of this is probably a moot point anyway, since when I can manage to drag my lazy keister to Target tomorrow, they will probably be all sold out, and there are no rain checks on this deal anyway, grrrrr!! |
