Moving from US to UK - will Chocolate work?

I'm moving from the US to the UK soon, and I have an LG Chocolate which I bought here in America. I don't want to buy a new phone. I know a slightly different version of the Chocolate is available in England, so will my American one still work there? Will I be able to just pop in the new SIM card and go? Sorry, I don't know very much about mobile phone technology.
