motorola sb5100 modem problem plz help?

i was using a scientific atlanta epc2100 modem but its now broke so i went to use a motorola sb5100 modem i plugged everything in i was using ethernet not usb but the online light keeps flashing all the other lights are on. but i still cannot get on to the web please can any one help me
