Motorola Q with Vista!?

So i took my defective Krzr to Alltel today and they replace it with a Q. I CAN NOT get Activesync on my computer to save my life. I have Windows Vista and it says it's not compatible. So I researched and found a lot of people saying to download Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista. I did that...now what? It doesn't work with my phone either, and my phone is saying to install activesync.

take vista off and put xp on... vista was a ty rush job which they really screwed up
