I have a motorola v3i and it says enter unlock code

The code is most likely 0000 or 1234. If neither of these work, try contacting your wireless provider and they should be able to take care of it for you by reseting it.

Keep entering the incorrect pin until it askes you for a PUK code instead of a pin number. Once it asks for a PUK, then call your carrier and they can provide you with that number.

Ummmmmmm... just a thought, but OP may be referring to the phone's Security Code instead of the SIM PIN Number. If it's asking for the PHONE'S unlock code, then calling the carrier probably won't help too much... :(
