Oh, the Ills

It seems like EVERYONE & his brother is coming down with something lately. I recently had strep, it went away. Then I got a sinus infection. Then strep came back. I'm miserable!!

I know my favorite cowboy, Dew, is sick too. Last winter I came down with the flu and Dew gave me the old-school medicine advice: honey, lemon juice, whiskey. I don't think it made me feel well again, but it made me forget I was sick. I think I might have tripled the dose of whiskey. Could explain things.

I've recently given up drinking, especially my beloved liquor, in an effort to clean up my act. When boating season hits, this clean act will get a little dirty again but not too badly. Still, it leaves me remedy-less for this nasty concoction of illnesses I'm carrying around everywhere I go.

I kid you not, I've tried everything. Is it just me, or have cold/flu medicines stopped working? I remember, as a kid, we had all sorts of medicines to choose from. They all tasted like acid, but they worked. Today everything comes in grape and vanilla (Seriously, vanilla-flavored Tylenol PM? C'mon now.), and it seems with the addition of an almost good-tasting flavor, the effectiveness of the medicine goes fleeing out the window.

What do you guys do when you get sick? Or have most people ended up like me, just riding out the cold until it goes away on its own good time?

We take so many over-the-counter stuff that we are becoming immune to the medicine. The sicknesses are getting worse. I have had the illness of death since St. Patrick's day... and nothing has made it better.:no3:
