Juuuuust kidding.

I go in for training on the 21st...the thing is, there is this coffee place close to my house that a few of my friends work at. They are hiring now...and I would MUCH rather work there...but I think I'm already pretty much working at DQ

Agreed.. I work at a paintball field on the weekends, and an ice rink during the week..

Kids just plain suck when their parents are not around, or sometimes you get parents who are worse than their kids (those stories are for another thread :D )

Anyways, remember to always smile and act like you care, and one last thing, ask the customer how they're doing before telling them about your day because really, they dont care about you, all they care about is how you can help with what they want..lol

So, just a quick update, in case anyone cares. But a Job opened up at a little coffee place that is about 5x closer to my house. Also, 2 of my good friends work there. It is not a chain, it is locally owned etc...and I would MUCH rather work there. I am going to apply there, and go in to talk to the manager on Thursday. Hopefully I will get the job there and can scratch the DQ thing...we'll see.

those are always fun jobs!

Hope you get the one you want. Because wanting to work somewhere, and being able to get a long with the people you work with are key in those kind of jobs! If there is tension or you just dont want to be there, then the job done will be like crap.

Me, at the ice rink, i get paid decent for what i do, i could get a job that paid a little more, but i declined because i didnt like the atmosphere there, i could sense a lot of tension in the place. I would rather be happy at work since im there 30-40 hours of my week, than to make a little more and be miserable. I love working at the Ice Rink and the Paintball field. both atmospheres are awesome, and i like what i do. Heck, i even go out with my managers after work sometimes :D

Okay, kinda off subject, but kinda not...
I miss DQ. they shut down all the ones around here.
It sucks because it was the best place to get ice cream, especially those fabulous strawberry shortcakes. Yum!
Sonic has ice cream, but it sucks. :(

Update:
So I have an interview at the Coffee place on Monday. That is also the day I have to call DQ to set up training the next day. When the interview is done, I am going to tell them my situation, say I would much rather work there then DQ and ask when I should hear back from them. If they say not today, I'll call DQ and train. I will end up working at DQ for a month or two IF I get the coffee place job, and they'll probably over-lap a little. If they say that I'll be hired on Monday, I'll call and quit from DQ, and I doubt they will make me work for the 2 weeks that I promised to before quiting...thats my situation. So no matter what, I'm going to have a job :D

I know I'm dragging this thread on....but here it is: My friend that works at the coffee place just checked the applications, and two are sticking out of the folder. Mine and some other girl, thats a grade above me in school. So pretty much us two are the only ones with interviews...I guess I'll have to beat her...somehow. I don't know how good I'll be at an interview...I guess we'll see!
What were your guys's first jobs?

Mine was at Delchamps when I was 16. I was a cashier. I was the only young one there during the day (I went to home school) so I worked with all old ladies. But I had every weekend off, so I never complained. :)

Don't be nervous. Just because she's a grade ahead of you doesn't mean anything. Trust me. I was an assistant manager of a restaurant once, and we definately based our hirings more on the people and their personality more than their age. Just be yourself. Don't be afraid to talk, because they want someone who is a "people person."

Just be yourself in the interview. Dont act like something you're not, and you should be fine. I know at the ice rink, we've had a few people in the interviews act like one thing, but when they get to work, be completely different. Let's just say i dont think they're going to be there much longer ;)

My last and final update:

I went in for the interview this morning. It was with the owner and the manager, who just so happens to be my ex-girlfriend's mom (but it was ok..my ex and I ended on good term,s and her mom loves me) so I finish, and she says that she will let me know next week.
I go home and don't exactly know what to do, because I got to call the DQ guy and tell him whats going on...so finally (after watching Prison Break and 24 of course) I called the manager (my ex's mom) and tell her my situation, and how I would MUCH rather work for her, and she says that she doesn't think I have anything to worry about, but to wait one sec while she calls the owner. She calls me back, and says I'm hired! So I guess the story ends happily. I called the DQ guy and quit...without even working. I start training for the Coffee place next week...

Excellent news....me i'm about 2 weeks out from finding out if I get into law school. Talk about nerves, i'm starting to break a little and run to the mailbox everyday after I see its been delivered. Congratulations on your job offer!!
