Gadget Lab: CompUSA Ready To Deal?

CompUSA Ready To Deal?

CompUSA, everyone's favorite gadget retail and pat-down search venue,Dsc03025 announced yesterday that it plans to close more than half its stores, and avaracious geeks have already decided the main news there is clearance sales.

CompUSA hasn't released a list yet of which 126 stores are closing, but the closures seem to be already reflected in it's online store locator, where doomed stores are already treated like leprous ghosts. So you can see if your local store is still listed, or just wait for the guys with the spinning "Everything Must Go!" signs to show up on nearby street corners.

A CompUSA rep says sales will be limited to stock on hand, and nothing will be shipped back to headquarters to be sold through the company's online clearance outlet.

The one at my local mall isn't scheduled to close either. Maybe it's just their smaller location stores that they will close.

Are you looking for a gaming machine? What is so pricey about them? I spent 1400 on my 700m and I love it, its only 8 months old and I want a new laptop. Guess money burns a hole in my packet.

The two closest to me are not listed when I do a search. :-= I never liked them much anyway. I get all of my computer needs at shows.

well the TX is a 10" power house runs like a 2ghz machine with xp pro service pack 2 and media player so you can watch a movie with out it being turned on to save battery life. the battery will last about 7 hours. and built in sprint mobile broadband network
and the SZ has all the same features of the TX but it is a 13.3 in laptop

See screen size is the only reason why I liked the 700m, its a 12 inch screen and its super portable which will be great for school. Now I am thinking I want a mac though, I just think it might be fun to get a new laptop. I hear alot of good things about it and I want to give it a go.

I'm not sure if there will be THAT many good deals to be had. CompUSA is bringing in liquidators to handle its store inventory, (which according to some insiders, means they sold all their inventory to the liquidators, which in turn try and get the most money they can from the inventory). I guess only time will tell (since as of 2/28, NOTHING in the store was "liquidated" yet).
