bought an unlocked gsm phone from elephantcellular.com or exoticcellular before? Just curious....

I get all my unlocked phones from eBay, or I get the unlock code from TMobile for free.

I bought mine (W810) from Empire Global Tech (myworldphone, in person); K550 and K790 from mobilecityonline store

How were the prices? They had rizrs for 200 and krzrs for 220....What were those other sites, pray tell....

That is the part that worries me. The prices seem too good to be true, but one of the sites uses Googlecheckout and is an Authorize.net verified merchant, while the other site has a login process, with the ability for members to leave comments. It also says Network Solutions Secure Site... Opinions?....

Motorola phones can be bought unlocked from their website. They have a nice selection of unlocked GSM phones at very reasonable prices. MOTOSTORE

Some Nokia phones can be bought unlocked from Nokia Cellular Phones All Nokia's current lineup can also be purchased in person and unlocked w/o contracts at the Nokia flagship stores in Chicago and New York. See the Nokia website for the addresses.

True, and you can use this code at the MOTO store till the 15th to get an extra 15% off of any phone. FRND_48452.

I know it would be more secure to just buy them from moto, but I don't want to pay their prices...believe me, I have looked there....

With that code that I just listed above you won't find them any cheaper. At least not that I have seen.

For non-T-mo phones, I usually recommend my friends to go to a couple stores in Chinatown or Irvine, CA. Those places usually unlock your phone right then and there if you're nice to them (if the phone needs to be unlocked), and can also unbrand/flash the phone to your desired firmware if you're into that too (if the phone is branded). However, just remember to go to a RELIABLE store that you trust. Recommendations/word-of-mouth referrals also help.
