Hello question is there just USB cable way with doing the update.....
without the flashing or unlock data software cause i have the usb cable for the phone only ...please help me...

I have a USB-serial cable that did not come with the phone. I bought the phone refurbished and unlocked from an asian cell phone store. I have AT&T.

After reading madmatt and jade's success with the usb-serial cable i'm interested in trying. But i'll wait to see if anyone has a spare cable i can use before i try it.

i feel like such an idiot, i just ordered the t809 online from ebay, i shoulda paid the 20 bucks more to get the d820 (but i didnt about the differences till now), but since i found this forum i ordered the serial port unlock cable so i should be getting the t809 and cable within a week. just had a few questions..

I have a windows vista computer, do you think I will run across any compatability issues while trying to flash my t809? and is there any extra settings if i have t-mobile service? i would greatly appreciate the feedback and thanks for the great post on how to flash the phone, the benefits from the d820 makes it seem like a good idea to do the flash upgrade.

i just dont get it i dont want to buy the cable as i have to bug people to buy stuff on ebay as i had to do to get the phone in the first place. Isnt there a way to do it with usb or something. I really want the the new firmware or at least is there a way to update the t809 second firmware? becuase i just bought a 2 gb micro sd card and it wont work in my t809 and i need to to get custom ringtones.

UPDATE:

ok so i figured out the glitch for custom ringtones under the sound options, i cannot use the 3gp conversion becuase i dont have a working memory card. Anyways will this update to the d820 work with my transcend 2gb micro sd card. Right now i have the ET809.02 T809UVFB3 (t809) so whats does this mean? And why wont my card work.

If the card wont work on the d820 firmware than i will still need more convincing to switch. i Wont use opera or google maps becuase you have to pay for the internet they use, Dont you? or what?

I just flashed my T809 to D820 today and really like the new screen and menu icons. Much nicer than the T-Mobile. I still can't access the internet. When I try it reads "ERROR:Cannot resolve the hostname". How do I fix this?
Reflash? Do an update? Any suggestions?

Ok.. How do I really flash this phone? I am getting annoyed with this whole procedure. I cannot come to a proper understanding on how to flash this. I use the USB cable that came with my phone and I even download a virtual serial port emulator and nothing happens. Can someone please help me here? :( I used to do much better with a Motorola phone. I flashed my phone like it was a walk in the park. This is like a walk through hell...

The USB data cable is not a flash cable and will not work. The USB flash cable is apparently hard to find, though I grabbed one on eBay last fall with no problems.

Here is a serial cable with USB power:

Hi there folks, i havent read through the whole thread, but ive just bought a used samsung T809 and does not hold charge. Ive changed the batteries (which i've picked up on ebay) but it has had no effect. The phone still die's on me after 2/3 hours. Not to mention, it gets very warm when charging. any idea as to what the problem may be.

hey dude i want to get my t809 to D820 but here in cuba is very diffcult to get the com/usb cable what is needed , i had see a friend who flashes phones with polar box, the answer is, may i can flash my t809 to d820 whit this polar box?? what i need to know or have?? please help me i am very exited to put my phone to D820
