Hey everyone, I just finished flashing my SGH-T809 --> D-820 and everything seems to be working real well, the phone definately feels upgraded now! I had no problems what so ever with these instructions.

One small problem I am having though, my t809 added dashes (-) to phone number when i typed them in (so numbers become 123-456-7890 instead of 1234567890) but the D820 firmware doesn't seem to do that, unless there is some menu option I am missing. It makes it a lot more difficult to recognise incoming numbers etc. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

As of now, I do not think there is any way to change this. If you have the people in your phone book, it shouldn't be a problem. I will note this and look for a fix for it.

The above is the two files to put on the phone, and the program to put it on the phone with. Any more questions?

I tried flashing my phone on several occasions and on several different computers. Once I get to the part where I have to hit the power button on the phone, it turns on and goes to an Insert SIM screen and the program doesn't detect the phone. What could be wrong? Bad cable?

1. A Bad cable is totally possible, and that is exactly what would happen if you had one, but there is no way, unfortunately, to prove you have a bad cable.

2. It could be a problem with the serial cable on your computer...you may want to make sure its installed correctly etc...but there is not a good chance this is it, it is most likely the cable

You may want to send the cable back for a replacement, and if the replacement doesn't work, I would look at problems with the computer.

Whassup Nwahs, Thanks for all the info I've been following hofo for a while, and I just got my serial in the mail today.. so if I'm flashing for the first time, can I just select the update instead of the original FC1 that was in the pack I got? or do I put the original then update to it later..

also, when will the next update be released dude? I'm ready to jam on a2dp so tell me what's up man

Thanks a million
Peace

You are going to want to download the original firmware, FC1, first. Then, when your phone is done flashing, have fun with it for a day, charge the battery all the way back up (as it needs to be fully charged when starting) get a new 9V battery, and then you can update it. I just posted the most updated version at the bottom of the original post. It has pretty much everything except customizable SMS message tones. Let me know how it goes, or if you need any more help. It should take a few minutes less then 2 hours to complete the flash.

Before i knew about this page i flashed my t809 with an 820 firmware not talked about too much here. "D820DXFE1" I thought it was the newest ver. but I'm not sure now. The phone works fine other then the date can't be displayed US style MM/DD/YYYY.

I am interested in the updates provided here. But first i want to know is my version "D820DXFE1" better then FC1 or FC3.

Also before signing up i was about to flash my phone with FC3 and then the update, but was not sure if the update was only intended for FC1.

From what i understand FC1 and FC3 appear the same so i figured i would go with the newer version as maybe the battery life is slightly enhanced or something else is fixed. Any reason one is better then the other?

Last question... I originally looked into flashing my phone for the same reasons are the others, but i was really hoping i could custom configure the center button instead of the standard wap.

SalQrazy: No problem, thats what this forum is here for, to help! Now a 2gig card should work in your flashed phone. This is not a guarantee, but I have heard that a 2 gig card works after flashing. I will try to get a more sure answer later, and post it here. If you buy one, you might want to make sure there is a return policy.

lax24dmid: I PMed you about this, but here are some answers. The biggest difference between FC1 and FC3 is that FC3 randomly "protects" some of your incoming messages, making it harder for you to delete them. After going back and forth from FC1 to FC3 I can tell you there is no difference, and just to be safe I stayed with FC1. The patch works best with FC1, and I am trying to figure out if it works with other firmwares. When I find out, I will post here. Also, I will look through the Russian sites to try to find a fix, to make the center key customizable, but I can't promise anything. I'll post here right away if I find anything though.
