Oh it's quite alright, I just got fed up and reset the phone. Resetting all the preferences to where I had them was a pain in the butt, but it was worth it. Nwahs, you've been nothing but helpful not only to me, but to everyone in this thread, and I just hope everyone appreciates it as much as I do.

You will most likely brick your phone, I would not advise doing it.

Although, read some previous posts in this thread. It seems like some others had a similar problem and got it resolved by using a different computer.

Hi nWahs,

Thanks a lot for all these info on t809 to d820 flash. Can you please let me know whether this process will retain my IMEI number or it will corrupt it to all zeros. I am actually planning to flash my t809 just for a change, but if IMEI gets corrupted then I should probably reevalute this. Will appreciate your reply and help. Thanks in advance.

sagar.

Flashing your phone, at this time, will revert your IMEI to all zeros.

Carriers do not look at this, and will not, unless you send your phone in due to warranty issues.

Flashing the phone also takes care of the software bugs (ie the T809 restarting again and again) so maybe that will help?
Its up to you, but many of us are working on a way to change the IMEI numbers

questions

Updating - NEW UPDATE JUST ADDED

Download the updated Bin/Cla file:

1. This patch can be downloaded here: D820 Update

2. Unzip the file

3. Open OneNand Downloader. Make sure ONLY "BIN" is selected. Then click on the "Bin" button and point the computer to the file you just downloaded.

4. Make sure "Don't auto Nand format" is checked

5. Make sure: Phone is charged, you have a new 9V battery. Etc...Take SIM out, turn phone off. Connect the phone, hit start, turn the phone on. Then when you have the option, hit download.
It should take between 45 and 50 minutes.

Enjoy your nice new D820! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

is the update necessary or is it optional....whats in the update... please help thanks

It is not necessary, it is completely optional.

This is what the update adds to your already flashed phone:

Update:
1. Automatically save sent sms to sent folder.
2. Battery indicator has now 16 "slices" instead of 3.
3. Fullscreen picture viewer: Push up button to view pics on fullscreen (for some reason this only works with pics in the mem card or downloaded images folder).
4. Fullscreen video by pushing left button (in case you have the slide closed and you can't push the 1).
5. Limit on GIFs individual file size that phone can handle now is 2.2mb instead of 300kb.
6. Java folder is 8mb instead of 4mb.
7. No confirmation for speaker phone activation.
8. Caller pictures show bigger on screen now, if they have enough resolution.
9. Blacklist feature. Handy to block certain numbers so the phone sends them directly to voicemail without even reminding you of him/her. You can access this feature from Phonebook menu inside the main menu. For more info go here to read the google translation of russian patch release.
10. DRM ignore. You can now send via MMS files with DRM protection (songs or images downloaded thru t-zones and things like that, I think)
11. Current time shown in phone call screen. So you can know what time it is though you're during a call.
12. Configure aspect of "desktop" screen from menu. Go to menu 9-3-3 (settings > display settings > text display) and see at the bottom for new options, like wether to show date and/or time or not, the translucent strip behind time/date, and the position. You can also hide the text shown at the bottom of the screen describing what those softs buttons do (this option is called "Cover title" in the menu)
13. Also this patch was added but doesn't seem to be working for me. Supposedly it lets you add numbers to existing contacts directly from the new number menu.

Thats a lot of people =)

I just downloaded all the files to update my t809 and I was wondering is there a particular order in which the updates must be applied? also is it the same instructions to apply the updates as applying the d820 firmware upgrade? At the savefile project list there are 3 updates listed I just want to be sure to apply the right one. Thanks in advance

I loaded the FC1 firmware and the update perfectly fine, however sent sms messages are not saved in the sent folder. Any ideas?

Which version would you recommend?

I am looking forward to flashing my T809, but I am not sure which version I should use. I am hoping to be able to use the A2DP bluetooth audio after the flash, as well as all the standard features. What would you recommend?

Do other features from the update work? 1. The update did not install correctly or 2. You need to install the original update and then install the newer one over it.

A2DP bluetooth audio (which I'm assuming is wireless bluetooth headphones) can be used after flashing to FC1. The update is not necessary for this...but helps with other features.
Flash with FC1. It does what you need, and is most reliable.
